R&R Research -- dedicated to integrating assessment and technology -- designs and executes research and development studies to solve problems related to performance assessment. R&R specializes in creating methods to collect and process these performance assessment data. Methods emphasize rapid turn-around and high levels of reliability. Strategies involve digitizing data near their points of origin and transporting both raw and transformed data to and from human judges via electronic networks.
R&R Solutions, Inc. (renamed R&R Research in late 1996) was formed in 1990 by Dr. R. Robert Rentz and Susan E. Ridenour, as a consulting group specializing in computer systems integration for small businesses. The company was inactive from 1994 until early 1996 while Dr. Rentz was Director of Educational R&D for Questar Data Systems, Inc. During 1993 Dr. Rentz published a description of the StarNET™ model , but it was not until early 1996 that R&R was reactivated for the purpose of pursuing the model's development. This decision coincided with the explosion of interest in the Internet as it became obvious that the Internet was the most accessible and cost-effective way to implement StarNET™'s communications network requirement.
Since 1996 R&R has sought projects that would permit the further development of StarNET components within the context of active projects. Some of these projects are described in the Projects Section.
