Data Collection Situations
Where Data Can Be Digitized
Many kinds of data can be captured in digital form, the most obvious
of which is to enter them directly into a computer using the keyboard
or mouse. A bit less obvious are these examples.
- Written responses to open-ended questions can be scanned or
even faxed and captured by document imaging methods.
- Voice responses can be captured and digitized by recording
directly into a computer's sound card, recording on a tape recorder
and later inputting those recordings into sound files or by using CTI (computer-telephony integration) methods.
- Photographs can be taken by digital cameras or images taken
from photo CD's.
- Motion video can be digitized by using a video capture board
on a PC.
- Almost any observable performance can be recorded and digitized. We specialize in transforming these data, that require human judgement, into information.
